MP Investigates Dogging

MP for South Basildon and East Thurrock, Stephen Metcalfe, is to investigate dogging in his constituency and in particular the dogging spot along the redundant A128 loop near to Pear Tree Lane in Orsett.

There is a lot of misunderstanding and ignorance about dogging and the law, so as part of his investigations, perhaps he should read this – Is Dogging Illegal? to get his facts right.

He recently attended a council meeting; and also in attendance was local councillor Sue Little, the same councillor Little who back in June 2012 asked another local councillor Angie Gaywood (yes, that’s really her name) to “oversee a consultation on a possible road closure there”.

At the time, this prompted a local resident and DJ to state “cant see the road being closed any time soon… houses and a yard down that road! im sure things like this go on all over the place.. dark lane.. no thru road.. job done!”

Dogging This Way

Well, the idea of closing the road went down like a lead balloon, and meantime some long distance doggers want signs put up to help them find the exact spot where the action takes place – as there is confusion as to its location. However, if you manage to drive along the A128 and find Ye Olde Plough House and the Bulphan motel, you just need to get to the other side of the main road and follow the sign saying “Brentwood Road, leading to Pear Tree Lane”.

Talking of finding dogging locations, if you want to find out where people go dogging throughout the UK, just run a Google search or if it’s easier, consult this Where to go dogging guide.

I would like to consider myself a dogging veteran after being on the scene for a few years now. I have met some very interesting people and have had my eyes opened to some amazing experiences too.
