Rogering Heights

The landscape that inspired Wuthering Heights is alive with wild sex

The picturesque parish of Haworth in West Yorkshire, which was home to Emily Bronte, authoress of Wuthering Heights, is a magnet for literature lovers during the day. However, when night falls, the deserted country roads and unlit lay-bys lure sexual thrill seekers, so much so that the area is known to locals as Rogering Heights!

Lust crazed doggers are invading the moors around Haworth for bawdy freshair frolics – and are drawn like Cathy’s ghost to the moors for after dark assignations in lay-bys aka dogging sessions.

Their antics make Catherine Earnshaw’s love for wild-eyed hero Heathcliff in Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights look tamer than a tea party at the parsonage where she grew up. Emily’s sister, Charlotte Brontë would have been put in the stocks if her heroine Jane Eyre’s desire for Mr Rochester had led to them bonking in a carriage on a country road.

A Daily Star investigation laid bare the after dark shenanigans on the windswept moors. As one of their reporters put it “After we were directed to a small car park on the hills above the quaint village, it wasn’t long before a couple turned up to put on a show. When we visited, a stunning blonde – dressed provocatively in knee-length high-heeled boots, skin tight jeans and an animal print top – had been driven to the isolated area by her much older partner.”

Her partner, Dave, who was in his fifties, told the reporter “She keeps me young, does this one. In fact, I can’t keep up with her so that’s why I bring her up here so she can let off a bit of steam. She loves it up here with all the wild moors and the wind and the rain. She loves putting on a show for folk and likes people to join in.”

By now his partner had climbed into the back of her motor and was flashing her ample breasts to half a dozen or so men and women who had gathered to watch the action.

Pointing to his girlfriend, who by now was beginning to unbutton her blouse, Dave said: “Go on, lad. Sam won’t mind. You will have to be quick though, because by the looks of things there’s a queue.”

Later, the reporter talked to another couple who had pulled into the lay-by in a motorhome.

They revealed they were a holidaying couple from the South West with the man who said his name was Brian saying “We’ve been touring the area and have visited Haworth to see all the Brontë stuff. “But we love to put on a show outdoors, so when we found out this was a dogging spot as well, we thought we’d check it out.” As if on cue, his wife Mary, 41, then leaned over and declared: “You look like a fit young man, let’s get comfortable in the back.”

Councillor John Huxley in a car park near Haworth

After the story broke, the local councillors had their say. Haworth Parish Council chairman John Huxley (pictured above) showed he had his finger on the pulse by saying “I’ve heard most things, but never this.” with Bradford councillor Glen Miller stating “I’ve been more concerned with complaints about clamping in car parks. I will of course, go up to the moors tonight to check this out for myself.

A day or so later, this letter appeared in the local paper:-

Sir

When I was young, Shipley Glen was a magnet for fans of ‘alfresco love’, now a national newspaper claims that lust-crazed couples are invading the moors around the Parish of Haworth.

Haworth Parish Council chairman John Huxley said it looks like a figment of somebody’s imagination, but I believe these goings on were known to all and sundry in 1847 when Emily Brontë wrote her single novel Wuthering Heights, an intense and powerful tale of love. And who knows, parts of this acclaimed work could be empirical.

So there you have it – maybe Emily should have called the book Rogering Heights instead!

I would like to consider myself a dogging veteran after being on the scene for a few years now. I have met some very interesting people and have had my eyes opened to some amazing experiences too.
